Paula Patton
Paula Patton is the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden) Patton and Charles Patton. Her father is African-American, and her
mother is caucasian and has German, English and Dutch heritage. Her family
lived on the same street as the 20th Century Fox lot when she was young and she
was a huge fan of movies in her early age. Her mother, who also loved good
films also taught at a school as was her father, an attorney. Paula states she
was able to get away from her mother by pretending to be someone else when she
was a child. It is not surprising to learn that she was a part of Hamilton
Magnet Arts High School's high school productions. Her most beloved role was of
"Abigail" in "The Crucible". After having graduated from
the University of Southern California's summer program she pursued film studies
and was assigned a three-month task to produce documentaries for PBS. In the
end, she was hired as a production assistant in documentaries on TV and also on
Howie Mandel’s talk show. In the following time, she was able to produce
documentary segments on Medical Diaries 2000 on Discovery Health Channel. Paula
says she loves doing what she loves, but she still dreams of being an actor.
She became a remarkably successful performer and within three years, she was
playing roles in major films, Hitch (2005) and Idlewild (2006) and was the
female role in Deja Vu (2006) opposite Denzel Washington.
