Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was known as a TV host, ex-chef for the Institute of Culinary Education and she was formerly an instructor of cooking. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as co-hosting Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and pumped-up presence, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of food in restaurants and shares straightforward, simple techniques to master to cook at home on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell was employed at some of the most prestigious New York restaurants and studied Italian cooking traditions as well as the environment. She also competed in Food Network's Iron Chef America. When she was growing up in the upstate New York area, Chef Burrell discovered a love for cooking and food from a young age. The Culinary Institute of America was a natural next step for her after she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in English as well as Communications with a degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She says "I was a huge Culinary Institute Of America student. I enjoyed every moment." I was never able to learn and do enough. Chef Burrell, after graduating from The Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy completed a one-year stint in Umbria in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, the Michelin-starred restaurant. She gained a deeper understanding of Italian culture and cuisine throughout her time in Italy that has informed her cooking style. Burrell is a well-known ambassador of the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids with disabilities. In her role as a speaker, Burrell is on the road to promote her love for cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has said, "I feel so lucky to be able to share my true passion to others.
