Lea Katherine Thompson
Thompson was
born May 31, 1961, in Rochester (Minnesota) The actress was the youngest of
five children born to Clifford Barry Thompson, a musician. [ She has two
sisters, Coleen Goodrich and Shannon Katona, and two brothers, Andrew and
Barry. Her mother is of Irish descent.She began ballet training when she was a
child and began dancing professionally at the age of 14 and was awarded
scholarships to San Francisco Ballet, the Pennsylvania Ballet, and the American
Ballet Theatre.When she turned 20 aged and performing professionally with
American Ballet Theatre's Studio Company (then known as ABT II), the moment
came to determine if she wanted to move to the company's main stage. Mikhail
baryshnikov was then at the time the artistic director. He said to her
"You are an amazing dancer, but your body isn't a good fit." It was
her "epiphany", when she said that it was the turning point that made
me choose to quit dancing and stop being a ballet dancer. It was a wonderful
moment. I could have smashed my head against the wall for the next 10 years.

appeared in numerous Burger King advertisements in the 1980s with Sarah
Michelle Gellar and Elisabeth Shue as her final co-stars in Back to the Future
Part II and Back to the Future Part III.CareerThompson began her home-media
screen debut in 1982, playing Cecily "Sissy" Loper in the interactive
live-action video game MysteryDisc Murder, Anyone? Jaws 3-Dwas her film debut
in 1983. I claimed that I knew how to water ski. And I did not. I had to learn
water-skiing techniques that were very difficult to master in just five days,
because I needed to participate in the Sea World water skiing show. I don't
even know how to you can swim!" She followed this with All the Right Moves
(1983), Red Dawn (1984) and The Wild Life (1984).
