Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actor and presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television between 2013 and 2020. Vergara rose in prominence during her time hosting two shows on Univision's Spanish-language television network in the late 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was Vergara's debut major acting role in English. The following year, she was featured in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's Comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009 that earned her an ALMA Award nomination). Vergara was born into an Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla. [8] Her mother, Margarita Vergara de Vergara was a domestic worker, and her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, was a cattle rancher for the meat industry.
